The holiday season is upon us! If you’re looking to get in the holiday spirit and have some fun with the whole family, there’s plenty of great events coming up in Oswego.

As a local Oswego business, we are actively involved in the community and stay up-to-date with all the community events and activities. That’s why we thought we’d provide you with more information on all of the holiday festivities taking place in Oswego in the coming weeks.

Oswego Tree Lighting Ceremony – Sunday, November 27, 2016

Oswego is holding their annual tree lighting ceremony at the Oswego Village Plaza from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. The festivities will include horse drawn wagon rides for the whole family and a variety of fun outdoor activities. OEHS Spotlight and Fox River Academy of Music will be singing carols to get everyone into the holiday spirit. This is a free event open to members of the community.

Christmas Walk – Friday, December 2nd – Saturday, December 3rd

It’s time for Oswego’s 2016 Christmas Walk! An annual event, these two days are jampacked with fun holiday activities for the whole family. The Christmas walk offers something for everyone, from food trucks to pictures with santa to shopping and arts and crafts.

Here are some of the main attractions at this year’s Christmas Walk:

Friday, December 2nd

Taste of Oswego – Friday, December 2, 5:00 – 9:00 pm

Walk along Main Street and enjoy delicious food from a variety of local vendors and food trucks. There will be something for everyone in the family, from funnel cakes and hot chocolate to empanadas, dumplings, and lobster grilled cheese!

Visit with Santa – Friday, December 2, 5:30 – 8:00 pm

Santa Claus is coming to The Garden Faire! Bring the kiddos to visit Santa and be sure to bring your cameras to capture the cute moment.

Fire Truck Parade – 7:00 pm

Want to wow the little ones? Bring them to the silent fire truck parade! Illuminated fire trucks will leave from the District 308 Center, driving to Jack Street, Monroe Street, Jefferson Street, the Five Corners, down Main Street, and back to District 308 Center.

Holiday Themed Improv Performances – 5:30 pm & 7:30 pm

Looking for some fun entertainment? The Oswegoland Park District’s Limelight Theatre Company will have two holiday improv performances at the Little White School Museum.

Various Holiday Activities – 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Throughout the evening, downtown Oswego will have a variety of holiday festivities and activities for the whole family. Some of the more notable attractions, include: Toyland train rides, the sledding hill (a giant slide), ice skating, ice carving demonstrations, games, and crafts. The downtown shops will be open as well, so feel free to stop in and do some Christmas shopping. The grinch will also be on Main Street, so don’t be afraid to stop him for a photo!

Saturday, December 3rd

Breakfast with Santa – 8:00 – 11:00 am

Enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast at the Oswego Family YMCA and get your picture taken with Santa while you’re at it! The breakfast will include a cake walk, games, and crafts for children of all ages.

Annual Holiday Cookie Walk – 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

Visit the local businesses of Oswego and enjoy fresh baked cookies during the cookie walk! Tins can be purchased for $10 from Floral Expressions & Gifts, Page’s Popcorn, and Hudson Design House in the days leading up to the walk. Don’t miss out on this chance to have some delicious Christmas cookies in time for the holidays!

Rustic Vintage Christmas Market – 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Get all your Christmas shopping done early at Big Life Community Church’s Christmas Market! A variety of local vendors will be selling fantastic items that make for the perfect Christmas gifts. Some of the goodies you can expect to see this year include: soaps, jewelry, ornaments, antics, rustic decor, and a variety of home goods.

Jingle Bell Jog – Color Run – 11:00 am

Join the Oswego Family YMCA for a festive 1 mile run. Bring the whole family and dress in your most festive Holiday attire as you run through a sea of bright colors.

Holiday Express – Friday, December 9th – Sunday, December 11th

Take your kids on a trip to the North Pole that they’ll never forget! The Oswegoland Park District is running train rides that will take the whole family on a trip to “the North Pole,” aka South Point Park, where they can meet real life reindeer, tell Santa what they want for Christmas, and warm up with some hot chocolate in Mrs. Claus’s Cookie House. Trains are running every 20 minutes and depart from South Point. Be sure to register by December 8! For more information, visit the Oswegoland Park District Website.
